JALT 2008

The Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) contacted me about advertising their conference at the end of the month (OCT 31). I was happy to do so. It's a great organization and I just wish I could go myself. Please see the picture below for more information or go to their website at http://jalt.org/

Review of LiveMocha in the KAMALL Newsletter 2008

Review of LiveMocha in the KAMALL Newsletter 2008

The link above is for a review I did of LiveMocha. The space requirements limited what I had to say quite a bit, but I said what I needed to say.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I was asked to write such a short one. It's a Web page! I'll have to talk to them about that. Not to mention, there are no links in the final version. Glad I included full URLs for each.

Enjoy.

Learning technology teacher development blog for ELT: Advertisement Project

Learning technology teacher development blog for ELT: Advertisement Project: "Nik Peachey"

Cool idea and site referral from Nik Peachey. Having students create advertisements that will be watched and judged by the public is great.

I see the downsides of this too: making students corporate agents, filtering through nasty comments, and less than optimal outcomes. However, I really do think that the authenticity of this activity blows away the negative criticisms. You students become advertisers. Not pretend, not psuedo, REAL advertisers (without the expense accounts and 3 martini lunches).

Great idea Nik.

Using YouTube for Vocabulary Development

An ELT Notebook: Using YouTube for Vocabulary Development

Nice lesson plan and a good way to get feedback on your lesson plans. Put them up on your blog and ask people their opinions of the lesson plan. You'll notice that someone commented on this the next day saying that they already used it.
