Welcome to CALL summer 2007
Hi Folks,
Welcome to the CALL Class blog. I'll use this blog primarily for posting reviews and "how to's" of technologies and resources that I find useful for language teachers. For the first few postings, I'll cover some of the sites that we are using in this course including Moodle, Blogger, & Wikispaces.
Your role as a reader (and student) is to read the postings, check out these technologies, and comment on my postings. Comments can range from, "that's great...." to "how do I..."

Don't worry. Learning how to manage/work with distributed information/content sources is a goal of this course.
What's going on here is a representation of the distributed nature of services available for teachers and students. A big challenge of working with these technologies is simply understanding how they work, as well as how they can work together.
While I do intend on throwing you in the deep end, I'll try not to let you drown :)

I understand your apprehension with the online format. Not only is the medium new to you, but the methodology might be as well.
I suggest you spend time at the beginning of class getting to know all of the technologies that we use. I also suggest that you let your curiosity guide you. Check out all of the links and ideas presented in Moodle and the other locations. The best way to overcome your fear is to jump in and do it.
